John Lockwood to “Brave the Shave” for Macmillans

As I am sure many of our members will be aware, our member John Lockwood lost his partner, Sarah, to cancer nearly a year ago. Throughout her battle, Macmillan’s nurses were there to help her through this difficult time, enabling her to pass away at home surrounded by her family and friends. John has now taken up the challenge of shaving his head to raise money to help Macmillan’s to continue to provide this invaluable service.

John is having his head shaved at Kirkcudbright farmers market on Sunday 30th August. Please support John and help him achieve his target of raising £250.

You can donate by following this link – and even go and support him in person on Sunday.

Good luck John!

STOP PRESS! Bees stolen from Twynholm.

Alert by the police in Newton Stewart

Sometime between Wednesday 19 and Wednesday 26 March 2014, 2 beehives containing Scotch bees were stolen from a field just outside Sorbie, Newton Stewart. The hives are of normal wooden construction and were painted with black creosote.

While there are no distinguishing marks, the owner would recognise them if he saw them again.

If anyone can shed any light on this please contact the Secretary, Edith Reyntiens in the first instance.

Otherwise, please bee aware of this latest menace! (excuse the pun!) Take precautions and if necessary, lock your hives.
